Meet Jason (father), Heather (mother), and their six
children Kody, Elizabeth, Jaden, Zakkery, Dominic,
and Bria. During the past year the family has experienced
many hardships including homelessness and ongoing
health care for Jason's Diabetes. They have recently
entered the Housing Plus Transitional Housing Program
and secured an affordable, decent 3-bedroom home for
their family. During their participation in the program
they will work on goals towards self-sufficiency.
The family is overjoyed that they finally have a place
to call home. The parents have been in need of a bed
and we hope that they can now get a good night's sleep.

Anna was born in Buffalo in 1927, and has led a very
fulfilling life. She was employed as a nurse aide
and then lithograph finisher before retiring from
full-time work in 1995 due to diabetes. She has been
heavily involved in her church, including representing
her parish at the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women
and being part of the New York State Catholic Council
Legislative Network. She has always spoken up for
those who cannot speak for themselves. Until her recent
and more serious illness, she made trips to Albany
to meet with legislators to promote policies that
she believes supports the dignity and worth of all
people, especially those who are poor. Craftmatic
is pleased to be able to donate a bed to such a deserving
person.

Fred is a 66-year-old former Vietnam Veteran who was
a member of the 173rd Airborne Division. He was one
of three men to survive when his 12-member unit was
attacked. He sustained gunshot wounds to the head,
hand, and knee. At 6'4", he is a tall man who deals
with bad knees and pain on a daily basis. Getting
in and out of a regular flat bed has been very difficult.
With his new Craftmatic bed, Fred is getting a better
night's sleep and is grateful for the generosity of

Sister Carmela was born in Philadelphia, PA and taught
grade and high school students in several East Coast
States for 40 years. After her teaching experiences,
she became employed with Our Lady Help of Christians
as a Pastoral Associate and Director of Religious Education.
She has been employed there for the past ten years.
Sister Carmela knows the joys of a Craftmatic bed as
she has an old one; unfortunately time had taken its
toll on her bed and with her health problems, a brand
new Craftmatic Bed was just what she needed. Getting
a proper night's sleep will help her as she works for
people in her senior years.

Nancy has been a single mother for 19 years. Unfortunately,
she cannot work a full time job because she has been
involved in five automobile accidents since 1973, none
of which were her fault. She has been diagnosed with
Periodic Limb Movement and insomnia; obviously sleeping
has become something of a challenge. Sitting and standing
create tension in her joints. CraftmaticCARES is excited
to branch out to the West Coast and provide Nancy with
a bed.

James is 55 years old and permanently disabled. He suffers
from multiple sclerosis and degenerative back disease.
He lives on a very limited income; with his youngest
daughter in her first year of college his Social Security
check must be stretched quite a ways. He and his wife
are in great need of a new bed, but can't afford it.
A new Craftmatic bed is just what they need to help
alleviate James' pain.

The Sannohs are an African refugee family who came
to New Orleans, LA in June 2005. The mother is from
Sierra Leone; the father is from Liberia. Thanks to
the Catholic Charities’ Refugee Resettlement Program,
they will learn to become self-sufficient in their
new community. The Terraces II Apartment complex has
help made the adjustment a little easier, as they
have made their application process a little more
accommodating to the Sannohs. Craftmatic is honored
and pleasured at the chance to provide the best sleep
in the world to the Sannohs.
Nebraska
For Nebraska, we have found not one, but several people
who will benefit from the donation of a Craftmatic Bed.
The bed will be donated to Parkview Haven, a skilled
nursing facility in Deshler, NE. Many residents will
be able to utilize the bed over the years. The facility
is especially appreciative of the bed as they are completely
self-supporting, with no outside financial assistance
from the city. Craftmatic is pleased that many residents
will be able to reap the benefits of a Craftmatic Bed.
Delaware
Juanita was born in Wilmington, DE and is thrilled to
be receiving a Craftmatic Adjustable Bed. She is a loving
mother and grandmother who has always taken pride in
her surroundings. At least four times a week, she goes
to the hospital for treatments necessary for her health,
and has never missed an appointment. She has multiple
health problems, including a terminal illness, but does
not let them get her down. She has much to be proud
of and is an excellent role model as she overcame a
serious drug problem in 1998 and has remained drug free
since. Craftmatic is delighted to provide her with a
good night’s sleep.

The youngest recipient to date, Isaiah was looked at
as a miscarriage by the medical world when he was born.
Weighing only 1 lb, 14 oz., he proved to be a fighter,
as he will soon celebrate his 14th birthday. He is a
strong young man who overcomes daily obstacles, including
dealing with an illness. No matter how challenging it
may be to deal with these obstacles, Isaiah always greets
each day with a smile; every morning his first words
are, “I am so happy!” Isaiah’s grandmother has cared
for him since adopting him when he was only a few days
old. She is excited that Isaiah is receiving a bed through
the CraftmaticCARES Program.
